The CBHSSJB is an expanding health care organisation that is searching for motivated candidates wanting to have flexibility in their work, expand and share their knowledge and learn about the values and traditions of the Cree population.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The occupational therapist evaluates the functional abilities of a user, determines and implements a treatment and intervention plan, develops, restores or maintains abilities, remedies incapacities, minimizes handicaps, and adapts the environment in order to promote optimal autonomy. She/he participates in clinical teaching.

Requested skills

Education:

  • University degree in Occupational Therapy;
  • Member of the Ordre des Ergothérapeutes du Québec. (OEQ)

 

Experience:

  • Clinical experience as an occupational therapist in various fields and programs.
  • Experience as a clinician in Eeyou Istchee.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

 

  • Good abilities in supporting change in a context of clinical care;
  • Good/functional communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Flexible, autonomous, discrete and empathetic;
  • Team work capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge, as applied to coaching and training;
  • Ability to apply Eeyou/Eenou culture, values traditions and teachings into programs and services where possible;
  • knowledge of professional standards, clinical practice guidelines and legislation;
  • Good research skills and ability to apply evidence-based practice to clinical situations;
  • Good understanding of health issues as they pertain to allied health;

 

LANGUAGE
  • Fluent/functional in English;
  • Cree or French is an asset.
 OTHER
  • Willing to travel to various communities on a regular basis for minimum periods of 2-3 weeks at a time.
